# Forestry

Divide felled logs with a saw — one sweeping blade, one clean cut through every mark.

{% hint style="info" %}
📍 **Jump in:** [Open the Woodcutter's Lodge shop in Pawtato Land](https://pawtato.gg/?move=4921:2440).
{% endhint %}

Forestry takes place at **Forestry Stands**, stands of trees that appear in the woods around the **Woodcutter's Lodge** on the world map. Each stand has certain attributes:

* **Type** of Stand (currently **Pinewood** and **Oakwood**)
  * Wood is the stand's main yield, but there is always a possibility for a rarer find
* **Level** of Stand (currently 1 and 2)
* **Remaining Supply**
* **Remaining Time**

{% hint style="warning" %}
Stands are temporary: they are gone when their timer runs out or when their supply is exhausted.

When a stand disappears, that spot enters a **9 hour cooldown** before a new one can appear there.
{% endhint %}

Stands are scarce. **Two stands are open across the whole map at a time**, each on a **6 hour** lifetime, and they are placed at random among **six spots** around the Lodge — so you never know which of them the next stand turns up at. Four of the spots yield a Level 1 stand (**Pinewood**) and two a Level 2 stand (**Oakwood**). A Level 1 stand holds **1,500** divided logs, a Level 2 stand **750**.

## How to fell (step by step)

1. **Get a Saw (and, optionally, a License).** Open the [**Woodcutter's Lodge**](https://pawtato.gg/?move=4921:2440) building on the world map. In its shop, select **Basic Saw** and press **Purchase** — any working saw can work a stand. You can also forge a Basic Saw for free at the [Blacksmith](/pawtato-land/gameplay/buildings/crafting-stations.md) instead (see [Saws](#saws) below). While you're at the Lodge, you can also select a **Forestry License** or **Golden Forestry License** to raise your daily felling limit (see [Forestry License](#forestry-license) below). Without a license you get 10 free fellings per day.
2. **Equip the saw.** Open your Hero's equipment, select the **Main Hand** slot, and **Equip** your Saw. The saw must have Durability remaining — each felling attempt costs 1 Durability, whatever the outcome.
3. **Find a stand.** Zoom in on the world map until the **Forestry Stand** marker appears, then click it. Its label shows the stand's name, remaining **Supply** and a countdown; the session panel that opens adds its **Level**.
4. **Start the session.** With a Hero selected and a saw equipped, press **🪚 Start Splitting**.
5. **Play the log minigame.** Your saw sweeps back and forth above a felled log; tap to drop the blade where it stands. Cut through every scribed mark before the timer runs out. See [Dividing the Log](#dividing-the-log) below.
6. **Collect the wood.** On a divided log the wood (or rarer loot) is shown and added to your backpack automatically, and you earn [**Lumberpaws** Reputation](#lumberpaws-reputation). Beside the Reputation line the screen also reports **what the felling was worth**, priced live off the market — a **\~** in front means part of it could not be priced, so the real value is at least the figure shown. Press **🪚 Split Again** to start another log at the same stand.

To work a stand, your Hero needs:

* A **Saw** equipped in the main hand slot
  * Any working saw can attempt any stand — there is **no hard tier requirement**. Higher-level stands are instead balanced to be impractical without the harder, faster cuts of a better saw.
* The saw must have **Durability** remaining and must not be **broken** (it costs 1 Durability per attempt, regardless of outcome). The point is spent the moment the attempt **starts**, so closing the minigame or reloading the page partway through doesn't save it
* The Hero must not be too **injured** to act

#### Forestry License

To keep the stands from being cut bare, every Player is allowed a maximum of 10 fellings every day. By purchasing a Forestry License, this limit can be increased.

<table><thead><tr><th width="358">License</th><th width="203">Limit</th><th>Validity</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>None</td><td>10 fellings / day</td><td>unlimited</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Forestry License</strong></td><td>25 fellings / day</td><td>14 days</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Golden Forestry License</strong></td><td>100 fellings / day</td><td>14 days</td></tr></tbody></table>

The daily limit resets at **02:00 UTC**, the same instant as the Fishing, Foraging and Mining limits — each profession still counts its own attempts. **Only one License can be active at a time** — buying a Golden Forestry License while a standard one is running replaces it, and a standard License cannot be activated while a Golden one is still active. Buying the same tier again extends the licence you already hold.

An active License shows up in your **buff bar** alongside your other timed boosts, so you can see at a glance how long it still has to run.

{% hint style="info" %}
Only fellings that **divide the log** count against your daily limit. A run you time out or fail costs you a point of saw Durability, but not one of your daily attempts.
{% endhint %}

#### Before you cut

Open a stand's session panel and, before your first cut, the lines under your Hero read out what that stand is worth **to that Hero**:

* **Luck** — the Hero's total Luck, its birth stat plus everything its equipped gear and your standing loyalty bonus add on top.
* **Uncommon**, **Rare** and **Legendary** — the chance a divided log pays out a drop of that tier, each tier named in its own rarity colour.

The three tier lines are **already scaled by that Hero's Luck**, so they are the odds this Hero is actually playing — not the stand's base table. Send a luckier Hero, or equip gear that adds Luck, and the lines move with it.

Once the minigame starts the same spot switches back to your saw's **Durability** and your **daily felling count**.

#### Dividing the Log

Click the stand marker on the map to open its session panel, then press **🪚 Start Splitting**.

A felled log lies across the screen with several **cut marks** scribed on it at random positions, and your **saw sweeps back and forth** above it at a constant speed, taking **2 seconds** to cross the log end to end.

* **Tap** (anywhere on the log, or the spacebar) to drop the blade at the saw's current position.
* A cut **inside a mark** takes your saw's damage off that mark. Some cuts land as a **Critical Hit** and deal **double** damage. Marks keep the damage you have already dealt, so you can work one mark over several passes.
* While the blade is buried in the log the sweep **holds still** for a moment, and every cut is followed by a short recovery during which further taps are ignored.
* A cut into **bare wood** deals nothing — and the **third** one ends the run. A mark you have already cut through counts as bare wood.
* Cut **every mark** through **before the timer runs out** and the log is divided. If the timer expires first, the felling **times out**.

Each stand level sets how many marks the log carries, how much each one takes to cut through and how wide they are — all on a **30 second** budget:

<table><thead><tr><th width="230">Stand</th><th width="110">Marks</th><th width="150">Hit points per mark</th><th>Mark width</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Level 1</strong> (Pinewood Stand)</td><td>3</td><td>60</td><td>7% of the log</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Level 2</strong> (Oakwood Stand)</td><td>5</td><td>60</td><td>6% of the log</td></tr></tbody></table>

The marks are deliberately narrow, and the number of marks — not a level requirement — is what gates the higher stand. **Your saw's whole job is to land more damage inside that clock:**

<table><thead><tr><th width="200">Saw</th><th width="120">Rarity</th><th>Effect on your cuts</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Basic Saw</strong></td><td>Common</td><td>10 damage per cut, 0.5s recovery</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Fine Saw</strong></td><td><mark style="color:green;">Uncommon</mark></td><td>15 damage per cut, 0.4s recovery</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Superior Saw</strong></td><td><mark style="color:blue;">Rare</mark></td><td>20 damage per cut, 0.3s recovery (also grants bonus Luck)</td></tr></tbody></table>

A better saw both cuts deeper **and** recovers faster between cuts, so it fits more damage into the same time budget.

Every landed cut has a **10%** base chance to crit. A [**Golden Acorn** or **Platinum Acorn**](/pawtato-land/gameplay/equipment/talismans.md) equipped in a Talisman slot **raises that chance by 10 percentage points, to 20%**, which stacks with your saw's damage. Only one Acorn counts, so equipping a second adds nothing. This is the minigame's own crit roll — it is entirely separate from your Hero's combat Critical Strike stat, and does nothing in battle.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Tips**

* A higher-tier saw doesn't lock you out of a stand, but on a Level 2 stand you need to cut through five marks of 60 hit points in 30 seconds — 30 landed cuts with a Basic Saw, before any crits. Look for a better saw before you chase Oakwood.
* You only get **three** misses. Let the blade pass rather than commit a cut you aren't sure of — but the clock keeps running while you wait.
* Stands are shared across all players, and only two are open at a time. Check the supply and the countdown before travelling to one.
  {% endhint %}

#### Saws

Saws are one-handed weapons as well as forestry tools — your Hero can fight with one, though a dedicated weapon will serve better.

<table><thead><tr><th width="180">Saw</th><th width="120">Rarity</th><th width="120">Durability</th><th width="110">Damage</th><th>Where to get it</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Basic Saw</strong></td><td>Common</td><td>30</td><td>10</td><td>Woodcutter's Lodge, or forged at the <a href="/pawtato-land/gameplay/buildings/crafting-stations.md">Blacksmith</a></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Fine Saw</strong></td><td><mark style="color:green;">Uncommon</mark></td><td>50</td><td>15</td><td>Woodcutter's Lodge — <mark style="color:green;">Liked</mark> Lumberpaws</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Superior Saw</strong></td><td><mark style="color:blue;">Rare</mark></td><td>100</td><td>20</td><td>Woodcutter's Lodge — <mark style="color:cyan;">Admired</mark> Lumberpaws</td></tr></tbody></table>

Saws (and the Acorn talismans) are forged metalwork, so they are **crafted and repaired at the** [**Blacksmith**](/pawtato-land/gameplay/buildings/crafting-stations.md).

The [Blacksmith](/pawtato-land/gameplay/buildings/crafting-stations.md) recipe for a **Basic Saw** costs **10 Wood + 3 Leather Scraps + 1 Flaxen Twine + 1 Iron Bar** on a **12 hour** build and always produces a Common, soulbound saw — the free way into Forestry if you would rather not spend TATO at the Lodge.

#### Woodcutter's Lodge

The **Woodcutter's Lodge** is the Lumberpaws' shop. Stands are not listed inside it — you find those out on the map — but everything you need to work them is sold here. Higher-tier goods are gated by your **Lumberpaws** [Reputation](/pawtato-land/gameplay/the-world/reputation.md), and several are **reforged** from the tier below, sacrificing the item you already own.

<table><thead><tr><th width="220">Item</th><th width="240">Cost</th><th>Requires</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Forestry License</strong></td><td>TATO</td><td>—</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Golden Forestry License</strong></td><td>TATO</td><td>—</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Basic Saw</strong></td><td>TATO</td><td>—</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Fine Saw</strong></td><td>10 Heartwood + <strong>1 Basic Saw</strong></td><td><mark style="color:green;">Liked</mark></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Superior Saw</strong></td><td>10 Ironbark + <strong>1 Fine Saw</strong></td><td><mark style="color:cyan;">Admired</mark></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Golden Acorn</strong></td><td>1 Amber</td><td><mark style="color:$success;">Trusted</mark></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Platinum Acorn</strong></td><td>1 Dryad's Tear + <strong>1 Golden Acorn</strong></td><td><mark style="color:cyan;">Admired</mark></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Dryad's Incense</strong></td><td>25 Lesser Essence of Axoma + 50 Wood</td><td><mark style="color:green;">Liked</mark></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Blueprint: Seasoned Timber</strong></td><td>250 Wood + 5 Essence of Axoma</td><td><mark style="color:green;">Liked</mark></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Lumberjack's Beanie</strong> <em>(Visage)</em></td><td>TATO</td><td><mark style="color:green;">Liked</mark></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Lumberjack's Workwear</strong> <em>(Visage)</em></td><td>TATO</td><td><mark style="color:green;">Liked</mark></td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Blueprint: Seasoned Timber** is a Common [Blueprint](/pawtato-land/gameplay/consumables/blueprints.md) and is **soulbound** — learned, never traded. Learning it at the [Woodwright](/pawtato-land/gameplay/buildings/crafting-stations.md) teaches the **Seasoned Timber** recipe: **1 Wooden Plank + 1 Oil → 1 Seasoned Timber**, a 30-minute craft. Seasoned Timber is an ordinary tradeable material once cured, and goes into the Copper gear forged at the Blacksmith and into several Woodwright weapons. The **Oil** comes from the Alchemist — see [Herbalism](/pawtato-land/gameplay/adventure/herbalism.md).
{% endhint %}

Because the blueprint is soulbound, buying it twice would gain you nothing — so the Lodge won't let you. Once you have learned it at the Woodwright it is marked **Already learned** in the shop list and its **Purchase** button is greyed out, so you can't spend the wood a second time.

The **Lumberjack's Beanie** (Head Armor) and **Lumberjack's Workwear** (Body Armor) are purely cosmetic [Visages](/pawtato-land/gameplay/cosmetics.md) — they restyle a Hero's equipped armor of any weight and grant no stats. Both are **soulbound** to your account.

#### Dryad's Incense

**Dryad's Incense** is forestry's answer to the Miner's Tent's [**Seamfinder Candle**](/pawtato-land/gameplay/adventure/mining.md#seamfinder-candle): a consumable that **doubles your chance to find Rare timber** — **Heartwood** and **Ironbark** — for **10 minutes**.

* Buy it at the **Woodcutter's Lodge** for **25 Lesser Essence of Axoma + 50 Wood** at <mark style="color:green;">**Liked**</mark> Lumberpaws [Reputation](/pawtato-land/gameplay/the-world/reputation.md). Like everything else in the Lodge it is **soulbound** — it can't be sold or transferred.
* Buying it does **not** activate it. Use it from your **Backpack** when you're ready to fell, and the 10 minutes start there.
* The added Rare chance is taken out of the stand's **Wood** yield.
* It works on **every** stand, whatever its level, and stacks on top of your Hero's Luck. It counts if it is still burning when the log is divided, and the stand's drop chances shown before you start include it.
* While it runs it shows in your **buff bar** with its remaining time.

**Level 2 Stands** (currently the **Oakwood Stand**) carry half the **Supply** of a Level 1 stand, and only two of the six spots can hold one. Every stand spot has a **fixed level**, so an Oakwood Stand only ever turns up on a Level 2 spot. Their minigame is much harder: five marks to cut through instead of three, each a little narrower, in the same 30 seconds. Their base yield is a bigger stack of Wood and Lesser Essence of Axoma, and they are the only stand that drops **Ironbark** and **Dryad's Tear**.

#### The wood

<table><thead><tr><th width="170">Drop</th><th width="130">Rarity</th><th>What it's for</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Wood</strong></td><td>Common</td><td>The common yield of every stand; the staple building material — sawn into <strong>Wooden Planks</strong> and <strong>Paper</strong> at the Woodwright, part of the bill for the Basic Saw, Pickaxe and Sickle, and buys <strong>Dryad's Incense</strong> and <strong>Blueprint: Seasoned Timber</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Lesser Essence of Axoma</strong></td><td><mark style="color:green;">Uncommon</mark></td><td>Used to level up Heroes and in many Alchemist recipes; buys <strong>Dryad's Incense</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Heartwood</strong></td><td><mark style="color:blue;">Rare</mark></td><td>Buys the <strong>Fine Saw</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Ironbark</strong></td><td><mark style="color:blue;">Rare</mark></td><td>Buys the <strong>Superior Saw</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Amber</strong></td><td><mark style="color:orange;">Legendary</mark></td><td>Buys the <strong>Golden Acorn</strong> talisman</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Dryad's Tear</strong></td><td><mark style="color:orange;">Legendary</mark></td><td>Buys the <strong>Platinum Acorn</strong> talisman</td></tr></tbody></table>

Every stand can also, very rarely, give up a **Formula: Enchant Luck**. It is a tradeable enchanting formula that teaches the **Luck** enchantment at the [Enchanter](/pawtato-land/gameplay/buildings/enchanter.md).

#### Forestry Loot

Every divided log rolls one drop from the stand's loot table. Wood is the main yield, Lesser Essence of Axoma the common bonus, and everything else is a rare find.

<details>

<summary>Possible drops from a <strong>Pinewood Stand (Level 1)</strong></summary>

<table><thead><tr><th>Drop</th><th width="140">Chance</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Wood</td><td>83.46%</td></tr><tr><td>Lesser Essence of Axoma (x2)</td><td>15%</td></tr><tr><td>Heartwood</td><td>1.5%</td></tr><tr><td>Amber</td><td>0.015%</td></tr><tr><td>Formula: Enchant Luck</td><td>0.025%</td></tr></tbody></table>

</details>

<details>

<summary>Possible drops from an <strong>Oakwood Stand (Level 2)</strong></summary>

<table><thead><tr><th>Drop</th><th width="140">Chance</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Wood (x2)</td><td>83.46%</td></tr><tr><td>Lesser Essence of Axoma (x3)</td><td>15%</td></tr><tr><td>Ironbark</td><td>1.5%</td></tr><tr><td>Dryad's Tear</td><td>0.015%</td></tr><tr><td>Formula: Enchant Luck</td><td>0.025%</td></tr></tbody></table>

</details>

{% hint style="info" %}
The **chance for rare loot** *(everything except Wood)* scales with the **Luck Stat** of the felling Hero (1 LCK = 1% increased Chance), and **Dryad's Incense** doubles the Rare timber chance on top.
{% endhint %}

## Lumberpaws Reputation

Every log you divide earns [**Lumberpaws** Reputation](/pawtato-land/gameplay/the-world/reputation.md). The amount depends on what you found, and each drop stops rewarding Reputation once your total Lumberpaws Reputation reaches its **ceiling** — nudging you toward rarer finds (and the higher-level stand) to keep climbing.

<table><thead><tr><th width="230">Drop</th><th width="140">Rarity</th><th width="200">Reputation per felling</th><th>Earns until (ceiling)</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Wood</td><td>Common</td><td>5</td><td>3,000</td></tr><tr><td>Lesser Essence of Axoma</td><td>Uncommon</td><td>10</td><td>6,000</td></tr><tr><td>Heartwood, Ironbark</td><td>Rare</td><td>50 <em>(reduced at high standing, see below)</em></td><td>10,000</td></tr><tr><td>Amber, Dryad's Tear</td><td>Legendary</td><td>250</td><td>10,000</td></tr></tbody></table>

#### Diminishing returns on Rare timber

At high standing, **Rare** timber grants less Reputation per felling, so the climb toward the 10,000 ceiling slows down near the top:

<table><thead><tr><th width="280">Your total Lumberpaws Reputation</th><th>Reputation per Rare find</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>0 – 7,499</td><td>50</td></tr><tr><td>7,500 – 8,999</td><td>25</td></tr><tr><td>9,000 – 9,999</td><td>10</td></tr><tr><td>10,000+</td><td>0 (ceiling reached)</td></tr></tbody></table>

**Legendary** finds are not reduced — they grant the full 250 all the way to the 10,000 ceiling.

{% hint style="info" %}
A ceiling only decides **whether** a drop still earns Reputation — it never shrinks the reward. A felling just below the ceiling always grants its full amount, even if that overshoots the ceiling.
{% endhint %}

## Stand spawn alerts

Because a stand is a rare, map-wide event, every spawn is announced in **world chat**. On top of that, if you hold an active **Scouting Guild** powerup you can be notified directly: the notification settings carry a **Forestry Stands** card with two toggles — **Level 1** and **Level 2+** — so you can watch only the tiers you actually fell. Alerts arrive per player and link straight to the new stand.
