Herbalism
Cut wild herbs from thickets — one steady hand, one clean cut.
Herbalism takes place at Thickets, temporary patches of wild herbs that appear on the world map. Each thicket has certain attributes:
Type of Thicket (e.g. Nightshadow, Ginseng or Heartroot)
The thicket's herbs are its main yield, but there is always a possibility for a rarer cut
Level of Thicket (currently 1 and 2)
Remaining Supply
Remaining Time
Thickets are temporary: they wilt when their timer runs out or when their herb supply is exhausted.
When a thicket disappears, that spot enters a 9 hour cooldown before a new one can appear there.
Thickets are much smaller and far more numerous than Fishing Shoals: up to 12 thickets are live on the map at once, spread over 32 possible spots, and each carries a small supply on a 6 hour lifetime. Expect them to rotate quickly rather than sit around all day.
How to harvest (step by step)
Get a Sickle (and, optionally, a License). Open the Herbalist's Hut building on the world map. In its shop, select Basic Sickle and press Purchase — any working sickle can harvest. While you're there, you can also select a Foraging License or Golden Foraging License to raise your daily harvest limit (see Foraging License below). Without a license you get 10 free harvests per day.
Equip the sickle. Open your Hero's equipment, select the Main Hand slot, and Equip your Sickle. The sickle must have Durability remaining — each harvest attempt costs 1 Durability, whatever the outcome.
Find a thicket. Zoom in on the world map until the leafy Thicket markers appear, then click one. Its label shows the thicket's name, remaining Supply and a wilt countdown.
Start the session. With a Hero selected and a sickle equipped, press Start Harvesting.
Play the cut minigame. Every stem's cut zone scrolls up or down like a slot-machine reel. Tap to stop the leftmost still-moving stem, and keep tapping until all stems are frozen. See Herbalism Minigame below.
Collect the herbs. On a successful cut the herb (or rarer loot) is shown and added to your backpack automatically, and you earn Verdant Hand Reputation. Beside the Reputation line the screen also reports what the harvest was worth, priced live off the market — a ~ in front means part of it could not be priced, so the real value is at least the figure shown.
To harvest at a thicket, your Hero needs:
A Sickle equipped in the main hand slot
Any working sickle can attempt any thicket — there is no hard tier requirement. Higher-level thickets are instead balanced to be impractical without the wider cut zones of a better sickle.
The sickle must have Durability remaining and must not be broken (it costs 1 Durability per attempt, regardless of outcome)
The Hero must not be too injured to act
Foraging License
To protect the wild thickets from over-harvesting, every Player is allowed to harvest a maximum of 10 herbs every day. By purchasing a Foraging License, this limit can be increased.

Foraging License

Golden Foraging License

The daily limit resets at 02:00 UTC, the same instant as the Fishing and Mining limits — each profession still counts its own attempts. Only one License can be active at a time — buying a Golden Foraging License while a standard one is running replaces it, and a standard License cannot be activated while a Golden one is still active. Buying the same tier again extends the licence you already hold.
An active License shows up in your buff bar alongside your other timed boosts, so you can see at a glance how long it still has to run.
Herbalism Minigame
Click a thicket marker on the map to open its session panel, then press Start Harvesting.
The harvest is a row of stems. Each stem carries a cut zone that scrolls up or down the stem, slot-machine style — neighbouring stems scroll in opposite directions and at slightly different speeds, so they never move in lockstep.
Tap (click, the on-screen button or the spacebar) to stop the leftmost still-moving stem. Its cut zone freezes exactly where it was.
Once every stem is stopped, your Hero attempts one straight cut across the whole row.
The cut succeeds if there is any height that passes through every frozen zone. Any overlap counts — the zones do not have to be perfectly centred on each other.
If the timer runs out before all the stems are stopped, the harvest times out.
Each thicket level sets how many stems there are, how tall the zones are, and how fast they scroll — all on a 30 second budget:
Level 1 (Nightshadow, Ginseng)
5
10% of the stem
Standard
Level 2 (Heartroot)
7
4% of the stem
Faster
The base zones are deliberately tiny, and that — not a level requirement — is what gates the higher thickets. Your sickle's whole job is to make those zones bigger:
Basic Sickle
Common
None — you play the thicket's base zone size
Fine Sickle
Uncommon
Widens every cut zone by 5%
Superior Sickle
Rare
Widens every cut zone by 10% (also grants bonus Luck)
A Golden Clover or Platinum Clover equipped in a Talisman slot slows the scrolling zones down, which stacks with your sickle's width bonus.
Sickles
Sickles are one-handed weapons as well as harvesting tools — your Hero can fight with one, though a dedicated weapon will serve better.

Sickles (and the Clover talismans) are forged blades, so they are crafted and repaired at the Blacksmith.
Herbalist's Hut
The Herbalist's Hut is the Verdant Hand's shop. Thickets are not listed inside it — you find those out on the map — but everything you need to work them is sold here. Higher-tier goods are gated by your Verdant Hand Reputation, and several are reforged from the tier below, sacrificing the item you already own.

Because both are soulbound, buying one twice would gain you nothing — so the Hut won't let you. Once you have learned a Formula or a Blueprint at its craftsman, it is marked Already learned in the shop list and its Purchase button is greyed out, so you can't spend the herbs a second time.
Liquid Luck
Liquid Luck is foraging's answer to the Fisherman's Hut's Glimmergrub: a consumable that doubles your chance to harvest Rare herbs — Moonpetal, Sunroot and Dashfern — for 10 minutes.
Buy it at the Herbalist's Hut for 5 Nightshadow + 5 Ginseng at Liked Verdant Hand Reputation. Like everything else in the Hut it is soulbound — it can't be sold or transferred.
Buying it does not activate it. Drink it from your Backpack when you're ready to harvest, and the 10 minutes start there.
The added Rare chance is taken out of the thicket's Flax yield, so your odds on everything else are unchanged.
It works on every thicket, whatever its level, and stacks on top of your Hero's Luck.
While it runs it shows in your buff bar with its remaining time, and the Backpack won't let you drink a second one on top of it.
Level 2 Thickets (currently the Heartroot Thicket) carry half the Supply of a Level 1 thicket and appear about half as often. Their minigame is much harder: 7 stems instead of 5, cut zones less than half the size, and faster scrolling — all still inside the same 30 seconds. Their base yield is a bigger stack of Flax, and they are the only source of Heartroot, Dashfern and Ghostbloom.

Verdant Hand Reputation
Every herb you cut earns Verdant Hand Reputation. The amount depends on the herb's rarity, and each herb stops rewarding Reputation once your total Verdant Hand Reputation reaches its ceiling — nudging you toward rarer herbs (and higher-level thickets) to keep climbing.

Legendary herbs are not reduced — they grant the full 250 all the way to the 10,000 ceiling.
Thicket spawn alerts
If you hold an active Scouting Guild powerup, you can be notified whenever a new Thicket appears. The notification settings carry a Herbalism Thickets card with two toggles — Level 1 and Level 2+ — so you can watch only the tiers you actually harvest. Alerts arrive per player and link straight to the new thicket; unlike some other events, thicket spawns are deliberately not announced in world chat, because they rotate far too often for a broadcast channel.
Achievements
Harvesting feeds the Herbalist achievement track — six badges at 10, 100, 250, 500, 1,000 and 5,000 successful harvests, each worth Achievement points. Only successful harvests count.
