# Salvaging

Salvaging an item **returns a portion of its original crafting materials**. To salvage something a [**Glyph of Recycling**](/pawtato-land/gameplay/tools/miscellaneous-tools.md) is needed and any Salvaging deducts 10 Energy from the Glyph of Recycling.

When salvaging, there is a small chance to hit a **Jackpot** and get **double** the materials back.

Also, certain Items can result in **Bonus Loot:**

* **Armor & Weapons**
  * **Orb of Reforging**
  * **Orb of Refinement**
* **Glyphs & Talismans**
  * **Divine Favor Token**

These Chances increase with the Quality and Rarity Tier of your Glyph of Recycling.

## How to salvage a glyph (step by step)

Salvaging lives in the glyph's detail view, opened from your **Backpack**. You need an equipped [**Glyph of Recycling**](/pawtato-land/gameplay/tools/miscellaneous-tools.md) with at least **10 Energy** before you can salvage. **Mythic** glyphs cannot be salvaged, and glyphs are salvaged one at a time.

1. Open your **Backpack** (the backpack icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen).
2. Find the glyph you want to salvage in the **Glyphs** section of the Backpack and click it.
3. Click **Details** in the glyph's tooltip to open its detail view.
4. Scroll to the **Salvage** card. If the glyph is equipped, unequip it first; if it's listed on the marketplace, delist it first.
5. Select the red **Salvage** button and confirm.
6. The **Glyph Salvaged** rewards window shows the materials (and any bonus loot) you received.
