# Upgrading

Tool upgrading lets Architects **increase the rarity tier of a tool** - improving its stats, efficiency, and durability. This system adds long-term progression and strategic decision-making to crafting.

<figure><img src="/files/hEONWfPaocZBnBpK9oUK" alt="Six Axe Tools from Common to Mythic Rarity Tier"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Upgrading Path

Tools must be upgraded **one rarity tier at a time**:

**Common** → <mark style="color:green;">**Uncommon**</mark> → <mark style="color:blue;">**Rare**</mark> → <mark style="color:purple;">**Epic**</mark> → <mark style="color:orange;">**Legendary**</mark> → <mark style="color:red;">**Mythic**</mark>

You **cannot skip tiers**.

#### Upgrading Cost

Each upgrade attempt requires a **Crystal cost** and has a **success chance**. The higher the rarity tier, the more crystals are required - and the lower the success rate.

#### Upgrading Chances and Crystal Costs

<table><thead><tr><th width="366">Upgrade Path</th><th align="center">Crystal Cost</th><th align="center">Base Success Rate</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Common</strong> → <mark style="color:green;"><strong>Uncommon</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">1<img src="/files/ew4f80fE0Tv9jzUOJmFR" alt="Crystal" data-size="line"></td><td align="center">60%</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:green;"><strong>Uncommon</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:blue;"><strong>Rare</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">2<img src="/files/ew4f80fE0Tv9jzUOJmFR" alt="Crystal" data-size="line"></td><td align="center">40%</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:blue;"><strong>Rare</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:purple;"><strong>Epic</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">3<img src="/files/ew4f80fE0Tv9jzUOJmFR" alt="Crystal" data-size="line"></td><td align="center">25%</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:purple;"><strong>Epic</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Legendary</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">5<img src="/files/ew4f80fE0Tv9jzUOJmFR" alt="Crystal" data-size="line"></td><td align="center">10%</td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Legendary</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:red;"><strong>Mythic</strong></mark></td><td align="center">10<img src="/files/ew4f80fE0Tv9jzUOJmFR" alt="Crystal" data-size="line"></td><td align="center">0%</td></tr></tbody></table>

There are various **optional** possibilities to **increase upgrade chances:**

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Donation to the Temple of Axomamma" %}
{% hint style="info" %}
**Optional: Donation to the Temple of Axomamma**

Architects can make a donation in **SUI** or <mark style="color:purple;">**Divine Favor Token (DFT)\***</mark> to increase their chance of success. \
This provides a soft monetization feature that boosts but doesn't guarantee progression.
{% endhint %}

<table><thead><tr><th width="366">Upgrade Path</th><th align="center">Cost</th><th align="center">Donation Boost</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Common</strong> → <mark style="color:green;"><strong>Uncommon</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">200 <img src="/files/vXY4nHKFW7Pa1nTZyugK" alt="" data-size="line"> <strong>or</strong> 1<img src="/files/3BG58BYHTCRw21VLRllQ" alt="Divine Favor Token" data-size="line"></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:yellow;"><strong>+30%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:green;"><strong>Uncommon</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:blue;"><strong>Rare</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">400 <img src="/files/vXY4nHKFW7Pa1nTZyugK" alt="" data-size="line"> <strong>or</strong> 2<img src="/files/3BG58BYHTCRw21VLRllQ" alt="Divine Favor Token" data-size="line"></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:yellow;"><strong>+25%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:blue;"><strong>Rare</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:purple;"><strong>Epic</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">600 <img src="/files/vXY4nHKFW7Pa1nTZyugK" alt="" data-size="line"> <strong>or</strong> 3<img src="/files/3BG58BYHTCRw21VLRllQ" alt="Divine Favor Token" data-size="line"></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:yellow;"><strong>+20%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:purple;"><strong>Epic</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Legendary</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">1,000 <img src="/files/vXY4nHKFW7Pa1nTZyugK" alt="" data-size="line"> <strong>or</strong> 5<img src="/files/3BG58BYHTCRw21VLRllQ" alt="Divine Favor Token" data-size="line"></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:yellow;"><strong>+10%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Legendary</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:red;"><strong>Mythic</strong></mark></td><td align="center">2,000 <img src="/files/vXY4nHKFW7Pa1nTZyugK" alt="" data-size="line"> <strong>or</strong> 10<img src="/files/3BG58BYHTCRw21VLRllQ" alt="Divine Favor Token" data-size="line"></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:yellow;"><strong>+5%</strong></mark></td></tr></tbody></table>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Offering of Tools" %}
{% hint style="info" %}
**Optional: Offering of Tools**

Architects can offer up to 3 Tools of the same type as the Tool targeted to upgrade. \
Depending on rarity and quality of those offered Tools, the chance will be increased.
{% endhint %}

<table><thead><tr><th width="366">Offered Tool Rarity</th><th align="center">Rarity Boost</th><th align="center">Quality Boost</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Common</strong></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$warning;">+<strong>1%</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$success;"><strong>+0-2%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:green;"><strong>Uncommon</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$warning;"><strong>+2%</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$success;"><strong>+0-2%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:blue;"><strong>Rare</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$warning;"><strong>+5%</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$success;"><strong>+0-2%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:purple;"><strong>Epic</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$warning;"><strong>+10%</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$success;"><strong>+0-2%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Legendary</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$warning;"><strong>+20%</strong></mark></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:$success;"><strong>+0-2%</strong></mark></td></tr></tbody></table>
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Offering of URRs" %}
{% hint style="info" %}
**Optional: Offering of an URR**

When attempting to upgrade to Legendary or Mythic, a player can chose to offer an URR to increase the chance of the attempt.
{% endhint %}

<table><thead><tr><th width="366">Upgrade Path</th><th align="center">Cost</th><th align="center">URR Boost</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><mark style="color:purple;"><strong>Epic</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Legendary</strong></mark> </td><td align="center">1<img src="/files/HRlLPDkXQ2tVKXUwGiEw" alt="Titanium Splinter" data-size="line"></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>+90%</strong></mark></td></tr><tr><td><mark style="color:orange;"><strong>Legendary</strong></mark> → <mark style="color:red;"><strong>Mythic</strong></mark></td><td align="center">1<img src="/files/cXxlEWAqDLhR9T4WHaLS" alt="Phoenix Feather" data-size="line"></td><td align="center"><mark style="color:red;"><strong>+100%</strong></mark></td></tr></tbody></table>
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Example Calcuation A" %}
**Upgrade Attempt&#x20;**<mark style="color:green;">**Uncommon**</mark> → <mark style="color:blue;">**Rare**</mark>

* Donation: **NO**
* Offering of two **Common** Tools with 32 and 47 Quality
* Offering of one <mark style="color:green;">**Uncommon**</mark> Tool with 5 Quality

**Final Success Rate:** **45.68% (40%** + <mark style="color:$warning;">**1%**</mark> + <mark style="color:$success;">**0.64%**</mark> + <mark style="color:$warning;">**1%**</mark> + <mark style="color:$success;">**0.94%**</mark> + <mark style="color:$warning;">**2%**</mark> + <mark style="color:$success;">**0.10%**</mark>**)**
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Example Calculation B" %}
**Upgrade Attempt&#x20;**<mark style="color:blue;">**Rare**</mark> → <mark style="color:purple;">**Epic**</mark>

* Donation: **YES**
* Offering of one <mark style="color:blue;">**Rare**</mark> Tool with 69 Quality

**Final Success Rate:** **51.38% (25%** + <mark style="color:yellow;">**20%**</mark> + <mark style="color:$warning;">**5%**</mark> + <mark style="color:$success;">**1.38%**</mark>**)**
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

#### Upgrade Risks

* On failure, the tool remains at its current rarity
* ⚠️ On failure, offered Tools, Crystals and Donations are consumed regardless! ⚠️
* The feature is **optional** - Architects can still craft higher rarity tools directly (rarely), or salvage and retry

\*Failed Upgrades grant soul-bound <mark style="color:purple;">**Divine Favor Tokens**<mark style="color:purple;"> for each Crystal used. One <mark style="color:purple;">**Divine Favor Token**<mark style="color:purple;"> can be used for the Donation Boost instead of SUI. <mark style="color:purple;">**Divine Favor Tokens**<mark style="color:purple;"> also have other uses in the game, mostly to boost chance-based events in the Architect's favor.
