Upgrading

Tool upgrading lets Architects increase the rarity tier of a tool - improving its stats, efficiency, and durability. This system adds long-term progression and strategic decision-making to crafting.

Six Axe Tools from Common to Mythic Rarity Tier

How to upgrade a tool (step by step)

  1. Open your Backpack (the backpack icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen).

  2. Find the tool you want to upgrade in the Tools section of the Backpack and click it.

  3. Click Details in the tool's tooltip to open its detail view.

  4. In the tool's detail view, find the Upgrade card. It shows your current rarity, an arrow, and the next rarity, along with the Base Upgrade Chance to that tier.

  5. (Optional) Boost your success chance before attempting. See Upgrading Chances and Crystal Costs for the numbers:

    • Tick Increase Chance by … TATO or Increase Chance by … DFT to donate to the Temple of Axomamma (you can pick only one).

    • Tick Increase Chance by … offering these Tools, then click the offering slots (marked Empty) to add up to six tools of the same type. Offered tools are burned whether the upgrade succeeds or fails.

    • For Epic → Legendary and Legendary → Mythic, a separate upgrade option using an Ultra Rare Resource (Titanium Splinter or Phoenix Feather) is shown instead — see Upgrading Chances and Crystal Costs.

  6. Make sure you hold the required Crystals (shown in the card). Click the green Upgrade to <Tier> (…% Chance) button.

  7. The button turns into a red Confirm button with a short countdown — click it to finalize the attempt.

Upgrading Path

Tools must be upgraded one rarity tier at a time:

You cannot skip tiers.

Upgrading Cost

Each upgrade attempt requires a Crystal cost and has a success chance. The higher the rarity tier, the more crystals are required - and the lower the success rate.

There are various optional possibilities to increase upgrade chances:

Optional: Donation to the Temple of Axomamma

Architects can make a donation in TATO or Divine Favor Token (DFT)* to increase their chance of success. This provides a soft monetization feature that boosts but doesn't guarantee progression.

Optional: Offering of Tools

Architects can offer up to 6 Tools of the same type as the Tool targeted to upgrade. Depending on rarity and quality of those offered Tools, the chance will be increased.

Upgrade Attempt UncommonRare

  • Donation: NO

  • Offering of two Common Tools with 32 and 47 Quality

  • Offering of one Uncommon Tool with 5 Quality

Final Success Rate: 45.68% (40% + 1% + 0.64% + 1% + 0.94% + 2% + 0.10%)

Upgrade Attempt RareEpic

  • Donation: YES

  • Offering of one Rare Tool with 69 Quality

Final Success Rate: 51.38% (25% + 20% + 5% + 1.38%)

Upgrade Risks

  • On failure, the tool remains at its current rarity

  • ⚠️ On failure, offered Tools, Crystals and Donations are consumed regardless! ⚠️

  • The feature is optional - Architects can still craft higher rarity tools directly (rarely), or salvage and retry

*Failed Upgrades grant soul-bound Divine Favor Tokens for each Crystal used. One Divine Favor Token can be used for the Donation Boost instead of TATO. Divine Favor Tokens also have other uses in the game, mostly to boost chance-based events in the Architect's favor.
