# Marketplace

The **Marketplace** is where players trade items with one another. You can list an item for a fixed price, browse and buy what others have listed, or negotiate with **bids** and **counter-offers**. Prices are set in **TATO**, and buyers can pay either from their in-game balance or on-chain with Solana.

{% hint style="info" %}
📍 **Jump in:** [Open the Marketplace in Pawtato Land](https://pawtato.gg/?mp=1\&move=5165:1560)
{% endhint %}

Open the Marketplace from the **Marketplace** icon in the action bar. The left sidebar has six sections:

<table><thead><tr><th width="180">Section</th><th>What it shows</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Overview</strong></td><td>Floor prices and trading volume per item type, plus a gateway to the resource <a href="/pages/rmFqOIkzZLTk0ox0g8IO">Exchange</a>.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Browse</strong></td><td>All active listings, with search, sorting and trait filters.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Convert</strong></td><td>The resource-to-resource swap (covered on the <a href="/pages/rmFqOIkzZLTk0ox0g8IO">Exchange</a> page).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>My Listings</strong></td><td>Items you have listed, filterable by <strong>Active</strong>, <strong>Sold</strong> or <strong>Cancelled</strong>.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Bids</strong></td><td>Bids you've placed (<strong>My Bids</strong>) and bids others have made on your listings (<strong>Received</strong>).</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Activity</strong></td><td>A live feed of listings, sales, cancellations and accepted bids.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## What you can trade

The Marketplace handles these item categories:

* **Lands**
* **Heroes**
* **Tools**
* **Equipment**
* **Skill Scrolls**
* **Visages**
* **Schematics**

Raw and crafted **resources** are not listed here — they trade on the order-book [Exchange](/pawtato-land/gameplay/marketplace-and-exchange/exchange.md) instead, reached from the **Resources** card on the Overview screen.

{% hint style="info" %}
Only **Heroes** and **Lands** are on-chain **NFTs** — that's why listing or buying one can prompt you to sign with the wallet that holds it. Tools, Equipment, Skill Scrolls, Visages and Schematics are **in-game items** held in your account, and trade entirely in-game.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Soulbound** items cannot be listed. Some items are also temporarily un-listable while in use — for example a Tool or Equipment that is equipped, attuned or under repair, a Land or Hero that isn't staked, a Hero that is patrolling or injured, a Hero that is **registered in an** [**Arena Tournament**](/pawtato-land/gameplay/player-vs.-player/arena-tournaments.md) that hasn't finished, or a Hero you **bought on the Marketplace less than 3 days ago** (see the resale cooldown below). The game shows the exact reason on the listing button when an item can't be listed — for a tournament-locked Hero it names the tournament holding it, so you know which one to leave.
{% endhint %}

## Fees

Every sale carries two fees, both shown in-game before you confirm:

* A **seller fee**, deducted from the seller's proceeds. The create-listing screen shows a **You receive** figure so you always know your net.
* A **buyer fee**, added on top of the asking price. The **Listing Price** shown to buyers (and the **Floor** figures on the Overview) already include this, so the price you see is the price you pay.

## How to list an item for sale (step by step)

1. Open the [**Marketplace**](https://pawtato.gg/?mp=1\&move=5165:1560) from the action bar.
2. Click **+ List** in the header (or use the **List on Marketplace** button shown on the item elsewhere in the game).
3. In the **Select … to List** picker, choose the item type tab and pick the item. Only eligible, un-listed items appear.
4. In the **List for Sale** window, enter your price in the **Price (TATO)** field. A **Floor** reference price for the same item and rarity tier is shown under the item name for guidance.
5. Review the breakdown: **You receive** (your net after the seller fee), the **Seller fee** and **Buyer fee**, and the final **Listing Price** buyers will see.
6. For a Land or Hero that may only be listed by the wallet that originally deposited it, continue to **Confirm Ownership** and sign with that wallet.
7. Click **List NFT**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Listing a **Hero** automatically strips and returns its gear (equipment and visages) before the Hero goes up for sale. Its **learned** [**Skills**](/pawtato-land/gameplay/heroes/skills.md) **stay on the Hero and transfer to the buyer** — the listing shows them between the Experience and Stamina rows, so a Hero that knows more Skills is worth more.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Heroes have a 3-day resale cooldown.** A Hero you bought on the Marketplace cannot be **relisted for 72 hours** after the purchase, however you acquired it — buy-now, an accepted bid or a Solana checkout all start the same timer. Until it runs out the listing button names the exact date and time the Hero becomes sellable again, and trying to list it anyway is rejected. Only **Heroes bought on the Marketplace** are affected: a Hero you minted, deposited or received in any other way can be listed as soon as it is staked.
{% endhint %}

**To change a price:** open the listing and click **Edit Price** — a new price can't be set below the current highest active bid. The same **Floor** reference price is shown here as when you first listed the item, so you can reprice against the current market. **To remove a listing:** open it and click **Cancel**.

## How to buy an item (step by step)

1. In **Browse**, use the category tabs, search box, sort options (**Newest**, **Price ↑**, **Price ↓**) and **trait filters** to find an item. Numeric traits (levels, stats, durability) filter by range; categorical traits (class, tier, type) filter by checkbox.
2. Open the listing and click **Buy**.
3. Choose how to pay:
   * **In-Game** — pay the **Price** (asking price + buyer fee) from your in-game TATO balance. If you're short, use the buy-more shortcut. Click **Confirm Buy**.
   * **Solana** — connect a Solana wallet and pay with **SOL** or **USDC** on-chain. The exact crypto amount is calculated the moment you click buy and the quote is **locked for 2 minutes**. Follow the wallet prompts to approve and complete.

{% hint style="info" %}
Paying **In-Game** needs only a logged-in account — no external wallet. Paying with **Solana** requires a connected Solana wallet.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Link your account before you buy.** An account with no **wallet, X, Discord or Telegram** linked to it only exists in the browser you are playing in — clearing your site data or switching devices loses it, and everything in it. Because a purchase hands you a permanent asset, the buy window blocks it up front: a **Link an account before buying** notice appears above the payment tabs and **both** the in-game **Confirm Buy** and the **Solana** buy button stay locked until you link a sign-in method with the notice's **Link Account** button.
{% endhint %}

## Bidding and counter-offers

Instead of paying the full price you can **bid**, and sellers can **counter**.

### Placing a bid

Open a listing and click **Place Bid**, then enter a **Bid Amount (TATO)**. A bid must be:

* **at least 30%** of the listing price, and
* **no more than** the full listing price.

When you place a bid, the bid amount plus the buyer fee is **locked** from your in-game balance until the bid is accepted, cancelled or outbid. Manage your bids under **Bids → My Bids**, where you can **Edit** or **Cancel** them (cancelling unlocks your TATO).

### Accepting and countering

Sellers see offers under **Bids → Received**. For each bid a seller can:

* **Accept** it — the sale completes immediately and the seller receives the bid amount minus the seller fee, or
* **Counter** it — propose a higher price. A counter must sit **strictly between the buyer's bid and your listing price**: above the bid (otherwise just **Accept** it) and below the asking price (otherwise the buyer would simply **Buy Now**).

The counter window shows the **Listing price**, the **Buyer's bid** and the **Max counter** you can propose, so the bounds are visible before you type an amount. If a bid has climbed to within **1 TATO** of your asking price there is no room left to counter at all — your only options are to accept it or wait for a better one.

If a seller counters, the buyer sees a **Seller counter offer** with an **Accept Counter** button. Accepting only charges the **difference** on top of what's already locked — you're never re-charged the full amount.

## Activity feed

The **Activity** section shows a running feed of Marketplace events — **Listed**, **Sold**, **Cancelled**, **Price Updated** and **Bid Accepted** — each with the item, price and time. A **Mine** toggle limits the feed to your own listings and purchases.
